The District Hearing Foundation was started by PDG Bette Purvis.
This Foundation now is able to help your club find affordable hearing aids for those in your town who need hearing aids and are unable to afford the expense.
Funds for hearing aids should come from your Club or in conjunction with the person in need of the hearing device.
If your club has someone in need of a hearing aid, you can obtain a full hearing test, moldings, fittings and a year of follow up care for significantly less than it would normally cost.
Clubs are urged to learn more about the Hearing Foundation and budget for this important program.
Any donations received by the District Hearing Foundation will be used to assist those clubs who have exhausted their budget or used to defray the cost of aids for residents in those communities where we have no Lions Clubs.
HOW IT WORKS
We have made every attempt to make the hearing program as uncomplicated as possible. Unfortunately as with most new programs, sometimes problems do occur.
The procedure will be changed and modified as we identify issues but here is the current procedure:
A) Club (or individual) identifies person in need of assistance B) Application is filled out and emailed to PDG Doreen Martel C) Club agrees to partially fund hearing aid D) Persons family is contacted to see if they can contribute towards the hearing aid E) Checks are sent to the District Hearing Fund for sponsored amounts as follows:
Checks payable to: District 33K Hearing Foundation Mailed to: CST Deb Hastings 9 Lincoln Street, Natick MA 01760 BENEFICIARIES NAME SHOULD BE NOTED ON CHECK!!
Contact District 33K Hearing Foundation Chairperson and advise which office you wish patient to be seen in and we will provide contact information. Offices are as follows:
We will forward the application directly to them. Once appointment is made and client is seen the bills will be forwarded to the District 33K Hearing Foundation.
Important note: No Lions referrals will be seen without the proper approvals coming directly from District 33K Chairperson!!
