Thank you to all the Lions of District 33K for the honor of allowing me the privilege to serve as your District Governor for Lionistic Year 2010-2011.
Our 2010-2011 International President Sid Scruggs’ theme is “A Beacon of Hope”. President Scruggs is encouraging us to take action to grow in service. His hope is that we all work to be Beacons of Hope, and shine a light on our motto “We Serve”.
President Scruggs asked us to shine that light on the following areas: Service, Public Relations, Membership, Youth, Leadership and Giving.
President Scruggs describes Lions as Loving Individuals Offering Needed Service. And that is what we do – We Serve.
IPDG Ned initiated the team concept last year. I will be continuing using this concept because it works. The District Governor team includes First VDG Matthew Richardson, CST Tom Kerr, VCST Peggy Cahill, and me.
The Past District Governor’s have been supportive and I will continue to use their experience and guidance during the year.
As I’ve told so many of you, one of my top priorities is communication. The Zone Chairs will be the first point of contact – each of the Zone Chairs will be reaching out to their clubs on a monthly basis.
All of the cabinet and advisory meeting dates have been set.
We are working on the directory. The club meeting date, time, location, and the club president, secretary and committee chair information will be available for your review at the first cabinet meeting on July 25, 2010. We want the directory to be as correct as it can be when it is printed.
We are working on the DG visitation schedule. The directories will be distributed at the first advisory meeting on September 13, 2010.
Membership is everyone’s responsibility. Last year our district had a plus membership of – for the first time in a number of years. Congratulations to all of you. We have chartered two new clubs and we are going to rebuild the Braintree Club. I want to build on this momentum.
I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
I am proud to be a Quincy Lion. I am proud to be your District Governor. With our Team – Together Everyone Achieves More.
On behalf of everyone on the district team, if we can be of service, please do not hesitate to ask. Looking forward to a wonderful year.
